Disorientation The Roommate

"Missing" is the second episode of Carmilla. It aired on August 19th, 2014.

Logline[]

Laura’s roommate at Silas University has gone missing, the only clue being a cryptic (and fungus-infected) note. Determined to find Betty, Laura summons her inner Veronica Mars and starts her own investigation. She talks to last night’s partiers who can’t seem to remember seeing Betty, and afterwards calls the office of student affairs, who are even less helpful, not to mention pretty rude. Not at all complicating things, a mysterious girl, Carmilla, bursts through the door, throws down her bag, and introduces herself as Laura’s new roommate.

Synopsis[]

Ep2 2

It's multiple choice!

Laura's refusal to believe the supposedly "official" note that describes Betty leaving the university leads her to call the campus authorities. She attempts to convince Student Affairs that Betty is missing, with no success. Laura's anger gets the better of her and she demands to speak to the Dean of Students, prompting the person on the other side of the line to hang up on her.

Ep2 3

Fine!

Laura texts Betty, hoping that she will reply back. While attempting to call campus security, she receives a call on her cell phone. Laura is initially relieved, believing she will be gaining assistance in finding Betty, but soon becomes upset when she realizes that the campus staff is under the impression she needs a new roommate, and once more causes them to hang up on her when she loses her temper.

Ep2 4

Detective work requires cookies

Now fully aware that the university is uncaring about their missing student, Laura decides to take Betty's disappearance into her own hands, and resolves to find the missing student herself. Laura departs to begin her task.

Ep2 5

Enter Carmilla Karnstein

Several hours later, Laura returns, unsuccessful in her efforts to find Betty. Laura expresses her frustration just as the door opens and another person walks in, introducing herself as Carmilla Karnstein, her new roommate.

Laura: There is no way in Hell or Hogwarts she left me with this "official" note card. It is multiple choice!

Laura: The University doesn't want to help find Betty? Fine. I've got three weeks of journalism class and I've seen all of Veronica Mars. I'll find her myself.

Carmilla: (entering) Hey.
Laura: Um, excuse me, but who the hell are you?
Carmilla: Carmilla. I'm your new roommate, sweetheart.
